1In short
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and book or buy something, the company may pay me a commission, at no extra cost to you. Every affiliate link and booking box carries an “Ad” label right next to it, and each page explains its affiliate links in a short box at the end. Commissions never decide what I recommend. Nothing is sold on this site, and no bookings or payments are taken here.
2Nothing is sold on this site
Gezginbirchef is a publishing site. It does not sell products, services, tickets, accommodation, insurance or tours, and it does not take bookings, payments or orders. When you click a link and move to another company’s site, the contract is between you and that company. For payments, cancellations, refunds, changes and complaints, please contact the company you booked with. More in the Terms of Use.
3How affiliate links work
- Your price does not change. The commission is paid by the seller and is not added to what you pay.
- Links are disclosed clearly. Each booking box and in-text affiliate link carries an “Ad” label right next to it, so you know before you click, and every page with affiliate links explains them in a short box at the end of the page. I never use hidden or disguised affiliate links.
- Links are also marked technically. Affiliate links carry the
rel="sponsored nofollow"attributes for search engines. - I do not publish partner prices. This site does not show fixed prices, discount rates or promotions from affiliate partners. Current prices, availability and conditions are shown, and binding, only on the partner’s own site.
4Programs I work with
Affiliate links on this site work through the programs below. When the list changes, I update this section and the date at the top of the page.
- Travelpayouts (affiliate network). Brands I link to through this network: Booking.com (accommodation), GetYourGuide (tours, museum and event tickets), Omio (train, bus and ferry tickets), DiscoverCars (car rental), Yesim (eSIM).
- Ferryhopper (direct affiliate program): ferry tickets.
- Skyscanner (through the impact.com network): flight comparison links.
- CJ (Commission Junction) (affiliate network): travel brands working through this network (ferries, accommodation, transport). The brand behind each link is shown on the page, next to the link’s “Ad” label.
- Google AdSense: display advertising (see below).
On my social media accounts I also have a direct partnership program with GetYourGuide. Links and sponsored experiences shared there follow the same rules and are clearly disclosed in the post.
5Ads are separate from editorial content
Display ads on this site are served by Google AdSense. Google decides which ads appear; I do not choose them, and I have no agreement with advertisers about my content. An ad for a company appearing here does not mean I have a business relationship with that company. Ads are kept visually separate from articles and booking boxes. You can see and change why Google shows you ads, or turn off personalized ads, in Google’s My Ad Center. Advertising cookies follow your consent choices; see the Cookie Policy.
6Commissions do not decide what I write
Which place I recommend does not depend on the commission rate, and the order of recommendations is never set by commission. If I do not recommend a service, I do not link to it. I do not write positively about a place I did not like; if I have a negative opinion, I say so.
Where I give official information (visa rules, fees, application centers, document lists, border rules), I never use affiliate links. Links in those sections go only to the official pages of the institutions and carry no commission.
I link only to well-known, established platforms whose names readers already know. I do not send readers to companies I do not know or where I see a risk of complaints. I do not link to any company in insurance, health, finance or legal services. For topics such as travel health insurance, I only state the requirement set by the authority; you choose where to buy a policy.
7Sponsored content and gifts
When I work with a brand or business for payment, or when accommodation, a tour or a product is given to me free of charge, I say so clearly at the start of the article or post. I do not accept payment to include a place in a list, to write about it positively or to rank it higher.
On my social media accounts and YouTube videos, every post made in return for payment, a free product or service, or any other benefit is clearly labeled as advertising at the start of the post, visible without having to click “more”. A vague word such as “collab” on its own is not enough for me. On Instagram and YouTube I use the platforms’ own “Paid partnership” and “Includes paid promotion” labels, and #ad where they apply.
8Rules I follow
These disclosures are written to meet the main rules on advertising and endorsements in the countries most readers come from: the US Federal Trade Commission’s Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255), the UK CAP Code enforced by the Advertising Standards Authority and the Competition and Markets Authority’s guidance for influencers, the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, and Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 with its regulation on commercial advertising. If a rule in your country asks for more, tell me and I will add it.
9Accuracy of information
I base the content on official sources and show the source on the page. Even so, the information is for general guidance only and is not legal, insurance or health advice. Rules, fees and procedures can change without notice; the official statement of the institution is what counts. If you spot a mistake, tell me and I will fix it quickly. See the Editorial Policy.
