Where to stay in Busan, Korea, comes down to the area more than the hotel. Busan is a long, hilly port city: the beaches (Haeundae, Gwangalli, Songjeong) are in the east, the markets and the old town (Nampo and Jagalchi) are in the west, and Seomyeon sits in the middle where the two main subway lines cross.
We stayed in Gwangalli in April 2026, in a small studio facing Gwangan Bridge that we booked on Booking.com, and on Saturday night we watched the drone show from our window.
Below we compare Busan hotels and other Busan accommodation across six areas: who each area suits, how you get there from Gimhae Airport or Busan Station, and a rough nightly price. How you arrive matters.
Most long-haul visitors land at Incheon near Seoul and ride the KTX to Busan Station; flights from Japan, China and Southeast Asia land directly at Gimhae International Airport (PUS). If you are wondering where to stay in Busan for the first time, the short answer is Haeundae; the longer answer, by arrival and travel style, is in the area cards and the questions at the end. For what to see once you are there, read our things to do in Busan → guide.

Haeundae
If it is your first time in Busan, Haeundae is the easiest choice. The beach, Busan X the Sky, the Sky Capsule and Dongbaek Park are all within walking distance, and most of the Haeundae beach hotels, from big chains to mid-range towers, line the seafront. See hotels in Haeundae ↗AdFrom Haeundae station on Line 2 it is a few minutes' walk to the sand; VisitKorea points you to exits 3 and 5.
From the airport it takes about 70 minutes by light rail and subway. According to Busan Metropolitan City, the Limousine 1 bus stops at Haeundae Beach and crosses Gwangan Bridge on the way to the airport; the adult fare is 9,500 won and cash is not accepted.
The lowest nightly rates on Booking.com without dates were mostly ₩80,000–225,000, from mid-range to high.

Crowded in summer; beachfront hotels are expensive
Nightly rate: 80,000–225,000 ₩
Best for: First-timers, beach lovers, families
Trade-offs: Very busy in summer; beachfront rooms cost the most
Vibe: Big beach, skyscrapers
From Gimhae Airport: About 70 min by light rail and subway; Limousine 1 bus
From Busan Station: Subway Line 1, change to Line 2 at Seomyeon
Good to know: beachfront rooms fill up early in July and August. If a beach view is not essential, hotels a street or two inland are cheaper and often closer to the subway.

If you want to spend your evenings by the sea, watching the bridge lights and the Saturday drone show, stay in Gwangalli. We did, in a small studio facing the bridge, and watched the show from our room. A Gwangalli hotel with a bridge view is the most Busan way to wake up. See hotels near Gwangalli Beach ↗AdThe seafront is lined with cafés and restaurants, and the beach is smaller and calmer than Haeundae.
According to VisitKorea, the beach is about 700 m from exits 3 and 5 of Gwangan station on Line 2. If you are coming from Seoul by train for a short stay, or catching an early train the next morning, a Busan hotel near the train station is the most practical choice: you walk to your hotel in a few minutes with your bags.

Three hotels to look at near Busan Station
Toyoko Inn Busan Station No.1: under 5 minutes' walk from Busan subway station on Line 1.
One stop south, Toyoko Inn Busan Jungang Station is an 8-minute walk from Jungang station on Line 1. Check Toyoko Inn Busan Jungang Station prices ↗AdWe didn't stay in this area; the details come from VisitKorea, Busan Metropolitan City and the hotels' Booking.com listings. The streets right around the station are mostly business and transport, so for an evening walk head to Nampo or the seafront.
If you want a quiet beach away from the city crowds, or a Busan resort for a few nights, stay in Songjeong and Gijang, east of Haeundae. The Blueline Park beach train runs on a 4.8 km stretch of old railway between Mipo in Haeundae and Songjeong. See hotels in Songjeong and Gijang ↗AdAccording to VisitBusan, it is a 15 to 20-minute walk from Songjeong station to the beach, and buses 139 and 1001 run from exit 1 of Osiria station to Haedong Yonggungsa.
According to Busan Metropolitan City, the Limousine 1 bus starts in Gijang and runs to the airport via Haeundae. The lowest nightly rates on Booking.com without dates were mostly ₩50,000–175,000; the range is wide because small guesthouses and big resorts share the same list.

This is where we stayed in Busan: a small studio in Gwangalli facing Gwangan Bridge, which we booked on Booking.com. It is a holiday rental, not a hotel.
Halil's Notes
View: Gwangan Bridge straight out of the window. On Saturday night we watched the drone show from our room without going down to the beach.
Room: a small studio, but it had everything we needed at home.
Location: right in front of the beach; in the evenings we walked along the seafront and watched the bridge lights.
Best for: travellers who want to spend their evenings by the sea and see the show away from the crowd.
Looking for something similar? Check in the listing photos that the bridge really is visible from the window, and check the check-in time; rentals usually hand over keys with a keypad door code.

If you are looking for luxury hotels in Busan or the best Busan hotels for a special stay, most of the 5-star hotels in Busan are in Haeundae, at either end of the beach and in Marine City, with one in Seomyeon and a resort on the Gijang coast. We didn't stay at any of these; the locations below come from the hotels' Booking.com listings, so check the price for your own dates.

Studios, Apartments and Hostels
Studios: in the beach areas, often with a view
Apartments: with a kitchen, cheaper for longer stays
Hostels: in subway areas such as Seomyeon and Nampo
Resorts: on the Gijang coast, for pure rest
In Busan it can pay to look beyond hotels. We rented a small studio in Gwangalli instead of a hotel and booked it on Booking.com, with no need for a Busan Airbnb; many holiday rentals are listed there too. If you are staying four nights or more, or travelling as a group, an apartment often gets you more space for the same money.
Which Option Suits Whom
Studio: couples or solo travellers who want a view. Check-in time and key handover are the two things that most often cause problems.
Apartment: four nights or more, for travellers who want a kitchen. A kitchen means you can shop at the market and have breakfast at home.
Hostel: solo and budget travellers. Filter by property type on Booking.com and check whether the listing is a dorm bed or a private room.
Resort: a few nights of rest on the Songjeong and Gijang side; do the rest of your sightseeing from an area close to the subway.
For rentals, message the host before you book about check-in time and how you get the keys; most use a keypad door code. Small, family-run places can have trouble with foreign cards and late check-ins, so sort both out in advance.
In Haeundae. The beach, Busan X the Sky, the Sky Capsule and Dongbaek Park are all within walking distance, subway Line 2 and the airport limousine bus stop at the door, and most of the big chain hotels line the beach.
If you would rather reach every part of the city by subway, choose Seomyeon; if you want bridge views in the evening, choose Gwangalli. We stayed in Gwangalli.
Which is the best area to stay in Busan?
It depends on how you travel. For a first trip and a beach holiday, Haeundae. For couples and evenings by the sea, Gwangalli. For getting around by subway, Seomyeon. For markets, street food and a lower budget, Nampo.
For an early KTX or a one-night stop, Busan Station. For quiet, resorts and Haedong Yonggungsa Temple, Songjeong and Gijang. For three nights or more, Haeundae or Gwangalli suits most people, since both are on subway Line 2 and a few stops apart.
Haeundae or Gwangalli?
Haeundae for the big beach, the big hotels and an easy first trip; Gwangalli for a calmer seafront, the view of Gwangan Bridge and the Saturday drone show.
Both are on subway Line 2, a few stops apart, so you can stay in one and spend an evening in the other. We stayed in a bridge-view studio in Gwangalli and went over to Haeundae for the beach and X the Sky.
I'm flying into Seoul Incheon. Where should I stay in Busan?
Most long-haul flights to Korea land at Incheon. From the airport, the AREX airport railroad runs to Seoul Station, and KTX trains run from Seoul Station to Busan Station in about 3 hours, according to VisitKorea; journey times vary by train, so check the timetable on the Korail website or the Korail Talk app.
Arriving by train, the Busan Station area is the easiest first night, and Seomyeon and Nampo are a few stops away on Line 1 with no change. For a stay of more than two nights, move on to Haeundae or Gwangalli, where Busan feels most like a seaside city. Check the entry rules on our South Korea visa and K-ETA → page before you fly.
How do I get from Gimhae Airport to my hotel?
There are two public options. The first is the Busan-Gimhae Light Rail to Sasang, changing to subway Line 2; VisitKorea gives about 30 minutes to Seomyeon, 50 to Gwangalli and 70 to Haeundae. The second is the airport limousine bus. According to Busan Metropolitan City, Limousine 1 runs to Haeundae and on to Jangsan or Gijang, stopping at Haeundae Beach, Park Hyatt Busan and the Osiria side, with an adult fare of 9,500 won; Limousine 2 runs to Seomyeon and Bujeon, adult fare 6,000 won since January 2026.
Cash is not accepted: book on the Bustago app, buy at the kiosk on the first floor of the airport (Gate 4), or pay with a transit or credit card if seats are left. Check the current timetable in the Bustago app or at the bus counter in the arrivals hall. If you prefer a private car: See Gimhae Airport transfers ↗Ad
Is there a good Busan hotel near the airport?
Gimhae Airport is on the western edge of the city, and none of the six areas on this page is next to it. For a late arrival or an early flight, Seomyeon is the closest central base: about 30 minutes by light rail and subway, with the Limousine 2 bus as a direct option. From Haeundae and Gijang allow considerably more time, especially at rush hour.
How much are hotels in Busan?
Hotels in Busan, Korea, are priced in Korean won. The lowest nightly rates Booking.com showed without dates, as of October 2026, were mostly in these ranges: Nampo ₩65,000–145,000, Busan Station ₩80,000–135,000, Gwangalli ₩80,000–175,000, Seomyeon ₩100,000–215,000, Haeundae ₩80,000–225,000, and Songjeong and Gijang ₩50,000–175,000, where small guesthouses and big resorts share the same list.
Prices rise in July and August and in the weeks of the Korean holidays Chuseok and Seollal, so book early for those dates. For current prices on your dates: See all Busan hotels and prices ↗Ad
Busan Airbnb or hotel?
For a short stay and a first visit, a hotel brings fewer surprises. For a view, a kitchen or a longer stay, a rental apartment or studio makes sense. We booked our Gwangalli studio on Booking.com rather than Airbnb; many Busan holiday rentals are listed there too. Whichever you use, ask the host about check-in time and how you get the keys before you book.
Are there hostels in Busan?
Yes, mostly in areas close to the subway such as Seomyeon, Nampo and Haeundae. On Booking.com, filter by property type and check in the listing whether you are booking a dorm bed or a private room. If you travel solo, being close to the subway saves you more time than a cheaper room saves you money.
Where should I stay to watch the Gwangalli drone show from my room?
In a room on the Gwangalli Beach seafront facing Gwangan Bridge. That is what we had, and on Saturday night we watched the show from our window without going down to the beach.
"Sea view" in a listing is not enough: check the photos to make sure the bridge is actually in view. Shows can be cancelled in bad weather, so check the schedule on the day. Watch the drone show at 16:10 in our Busan vlog ↗.
Is there a beach resort in Busan?
Yes, on the Gijang coast east of Haeundae. Ananti at Busan Cove sits right on the coast with an outdoor pool, and the Osiria side has newer resort-style hotels with family rooms.
Limousine 1 from the airport stops at the Ananti Cove back gate and at Osiria. It is far from the centre, so two nights of resort time plus the rest of your stay in Haeundae or Gwangalli works best.
What should I check before booking?
Subway: which station and which exit the hotel is near; most sightseeing in Busan is by subway. Payment: chain hotels are usually fine with foreign cards, small guesthouses sometimes are not. Season: book early for summer and the Korean holiday weeks. Free cancellation: tick the filter so a flight change doesn't cost you.
