There is no single Colmar Christmas market square. Officially there are six: the Dominicans' square, the old customs square (Ancienne Douane), the Jeanne d'Arc square, the kids' square in Little Venice (Six Montagnes Noires), the Koïfhus hall and the chefs' street, Rue de la Montagne Verte (noel-colmar.com).

More about this market

All six are inside or on the edge of the old town and you can walk between any two in about ten minutes. Start at Little Venice in the south and finish at the Dominicans in the north, or the other way round.

Colmar Christmas Market Food and Gifts

What to Look For

Christmas market

Sweet stalls dominate: bredele biscuits, kougelhopf and spiced pain d'épices. At the market by Saint-Martin Church we found salted potatoes as the savoury snack. For gifts, the Koïfhus crafts and the decorations on the Dominicains square are the obvious picks; with children, try the hot apple juice in Little Venice.

  • Bredele and kougelhopf
  • Handmade decorations

What we ate elsewhere in town, including tarte flambée, is in our things to do in Colmar  guide.
